I’m running a live two-part online CPD training this November for therapists and helping professionals who want to deepen their understanding of family estrangement and feel more confident working with it clinically.
Across the two sessions, we’ll explore some of the complexities that can sit underneath estrangement, including grief, boundaries, relational dynamics, emotional impact, and therapeutic approaches to supporting clients on different sides of the estrangement experience.
The training is research-informed, clinically grounded, and compassion-led, with space for case reflection, discussion, and live Q&A.

Family estrangement is an increasingly common issue in clinical practice, yet it can be difficult to work with therapeutically. Clients may arrive in deep distress, feeling blamed, relieved, conflicted, ashamed, or pressured to reconcile. Therapists can find themselves navigating complex relational histories, trauma, loyalty conflicts, cultural expectations, and competing narratives within families.
This workshop is designed for therapists, counsellors, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, and other mental health professionals who support adults navigating family estrangement.
